“The things we do today will be tomorrow’s news”-Newsies: The Musical
“I began performance because of so many loving teachers who encouraged me to pursue my passions. Because of teachers, I asked for my first guitar, became a choreographer at the age of fourteen, learned a competition show in 4 weeks, and many more thrilling adventures. My heart is for encouraging the next generation as well as training these young minds to be the next professionals. I want my students to leave a rehearsal or show with me, feeling confident in their abilities, challenged in their weakness, and emboldened to take a leap of faith in this business we call ‘Show Business’. (Insert Bob Fosse). And it is important to remember that the young are the future! They are the future of this business and more importantly, this human connection. The education of the arts is crucial, and I am happy to be a part of it.”

My Belief
-
The voice is the most special instrument of all! One that can never be repurchased. What you have is GOLDEN! Every voice is a natural gift and needs to be protected. Oftentimes in the performing arts, young voices are pushed into vocal styles, such as mixing and belting, that is unhealthy and unnatural for their developmental stage. I encourage strengthening of both the head voice and chest voice in my students as well as the gradual and healthy way to gain a “Broadway” voice.

Every body is a dance body! Dance is not only a great physical activity and true test of mental capabilities, but at an essence it is an art form. Dance is meant to be a performance of expression! In my choreography, I try to help dancers understand the heart behind the movement, not only the physical direction their body should move. Without emotion, dance is simply a feat of athletic prowess! By encouraging young dancers to truly connect their heart to their movement, we encourage genuine performance and true audience connection. And, its FUN!
